If you or your candidates are experiencing camera or microphone issues, follow these steps.

Common Issues and Fixes

Camera Not Detected

  1. Check browser permissions — Click the camera icon in your browser’s address bar and ensure “Allow” is selected
  2. Close other apps — Zoom, Teams, or other video apps may be using the camera
  3. Try a different browser — Switch to Chrome if you’re experiencing issues elsewhere
  4. Restart your browser — Close all tabs and reopen

Microphone Not Working

  1. Check browser permissions — Ensure microphone access is allowed for the Hello Recruiter domain
  2. Check system settings — Verify the correct microphone is selected in your OS audio settings
  3. Test in another app — Confirm the mic works outside the browser
  4. Check for hardware mute — Some laptops have physical mute buttons or switches

Poor Audio/Video Quality

  • Check your internet speed — Run a speed test and ensure at least 5 Mbps upload/download
  • Close bandwidth-heavy applications — Streaming, large downloads, or other video calls
  • Move closer to your WiFi router or use a wired connection
For candidates: If issues persist, try using a different device (phone or tablet). The interview is accessible on mobile browsers as well.
